Curbs imposed at Ganga ghat after 2 youths drowned
In light of the heartbreaking drownings of two young individuals at Buxar’s beloved ‘Goa Beach,’ local authorities have now implemented strict prohibitory measures. Once a vibrant attraction known for its scenic beauty and social media posts, this popular Ganga confluence destination is now closed to the public in the interest of safety.

Buxar: The Buxar district administration on Tuesday imposed prohibitory orders at the Thora-Ganga confluence ghat, popularly known on social media as ‘Goa Beach’, following the drowning of two youths in separate incidents over the past three days.According to officials, the victims had visited the spot for recreation and to shoot social media reels when they drowned in the Ganga. Following the incidents, restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were imposed at Trimuhani Ghat and adjoining sandy areas. The sand dunes emerging after the receding water level of the Ganga near Charitravan Jail Road had recently become a major attraction on social media, drawing large crowds of youths, families and children.Officials said many visitors were venturing deep into the river without any safety measures, increasing the risk of accidents. After the recent drownings, heavy police deployment was made to clear the area and prevent further gatherings.Buxar sub-divisional magistrate Avinash Kumar said the site was not an officially recognized tourist destination and remained unsafe for public activities.Under the restrictions, gathering of five or more people has been banned. Reel-making, processions, loudspeakers, smoking and drone flying have also been prohibited. Police have been directed to maintain continuous patrolling, while the Nagar Parishad has been asked to install barricades along the ghats.
