Lucknow: DGP Rajeev Krishna on Friday directed police units across UP to intensify surveillance on cross-border radicalization networks, caste-based hate campaigns and organized criminal activities while strengthening beat policing with the deployment of over 60,000 newly recruited constables.Chairing a statewide review meeting through video-conferencing from the police headquarters, Krishna reviewed crime control, cyber-monitoring, public grievance disposal and traffic management with senior police officers.He instructed officials to keep a strict vigil on anti-national and terror-linked networks allegedly using social media platforms to mislead and radicalize youth from across the border. He ordered stronger monitoring of online activities and immediate action against individuals spreading caste hatred and communal tension through digital platforms.Police social media monitoring units were also directed to upgrade technical surveillance capabilities to track inflammatory content in real time.He described the induction of 60,244 newly recruited constables as a “once in a generation opportunity” for UP Police and ordered their maximum deployment in beat policing, foot patrolling and public outreach programs. Officers were instructed to ensure proper behavioral training, accommodation and mess facilities for recruits and to maintain regular interaction with them.Krishna also ordered special statewide drives against cow slaughter and cattle smuggling, directing police units to identify financial and logistical networks linked to such rackets and take stringent action.Reviewing serious crimes such as murder and robbery, he instructed district police chiefs to analyze crime patterns, strengthen local intelligence networks and ensure swift preventive action. Senior zonal and range officers were told to personally supervise sensitive incidents and ensure prompt, factual media briefings to prevent rumors and misinformation.He expressed satisfaction over UP’s performance in the ‘Crime in India 2024’ report.He also reviewed the disposal of public complaints and IGRS cases. Special emphasis was laid on resolving women-related complaints through Mission Shakti centres.On road safety, the DGP reviewed the ongoing Zero Fatality District (ZFD) campaign and the C-RTC initiative aimed at reducing traffic congestion in 20 districts. Police units were instructed to improve coordination between CCTV monitoring teams and local police stations for better traffic management.
