Gurgaon: To promote faster and amicable resolution of disputes, the district legal services authority (DLSA) has launched “Samadhan Sangharsh Nivarak Rashtriya Abhiyan” in the city to resolve non-heinous cases through mutual consent, dialogue and mediation.Chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary, DLSA, Rakesh Kadiyan, said the initiative offers a simpler and time-bound alternative to prolonged judicial proceedings and aims to reduce the burden of pending cases in courts.Data shows that 3,08,621 cases are currently pending in the district and sessions courts, including 2,63,974 criminal and 44,647 civil cases. Additionally, 4,332 matters are at the pre-litigation stage, while around 10,000 to 12,000 fresh cases are filed every month. The campaign, which began on April 21, will continue till Aug 23, 2026, and will culminate in Special Lok Adalats. Currently, eligible cases are being identified and parties are encouraged to participate in pre-Lok Adalat conciliation proceedings.Officials said the drive involves coordination between judicial officers, legal services institutions, advocates, litigants and other concerned parties. Trained mediators and conciliators are being deployed, and proceedings will be conducted under court supervision, with options for virtual and hybrid hearings.Kadiyan appealed to litigants to participate in the initiative, stating that it would help resolve disputes efficiently and in a time-bound manner while strengthening trust in the justice system. In 2025, Lok Adalats in Gurgaon disposed of around 3.1 lakh cases, including accident compensation claims, traffic challans, check bounce matters, domestic disputes and other non-heinous cases. Officials said the success of these efforts has led to the launch of the current campaign to encourage pre-Lok Adalat settlements.Gurgaon district courts have 48 judges, including 16 sessions judges, across three complexes — the main Gurgaon complex with 42 courts, and Pataudi and Sohna complexes with three courts each.
