False Insta post on 'lynching' in Fbd leads to arrest
The accused, Junaid (25), a truck driver, was arrested from Maharashtra’s Palghar.

Gurgaon: A man was arrested by the cyber cell unit of Faridabad for circulating misleading and communally sensitive content on social media with the intent to create unrest.The post, shared by the Instagram account “voice_of_humans_01”, showed a youth being beaten up by a group of men from a different community. The video claimed the incident took place in Faridabad.The post was detected by the police’s cyber unit during routine monitoring on April 10. An officer said the post had multiple tags, which increased its reach and potential to trigger tension.Based on a complaint filed by the cyber cell, a case was registered at Cyber ​​Central police station under sections 299, 356(2) of the BNS, among others. “A team launched an investigation and traced the accused, Mohammad Junaid. He is a native of Jarari village in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district but was staying in Palghar, Maharashtra, at the time of his arrest,” a senior officer said.Police apprehended Junaid from Maharashtra on Monday. The officer said the 25-year-old accused is a truck driver by profession.Police said that during questioning, he admitted the video did not belong to Faridabad and was deliberately misrepresented to provoke religious sentiments and gain traction online.Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal said, “The accused tagged several individuals and accounts to amplify the post’s visibility.”Junaid was produced before a court and has been sent to judicial custody.Police have urged citizens to exercise caution while sharing content on social media platforms and to verify facts before forwarding any posts.An officer warned that strict action will be taken against individuals found spreading misinformation or attempting to disturb communal harmony, adding that social media platforms are under continuous surveillance to curb the spread of fake and inflammatory content.
