Laufey opens up about slap scene with Hudson Williams in 'Mad Woman': 'It felt very primal'

Laufey is slowly proving to be a rising force in the music industry. With the release of her latest song, ‘Mad Woman’, and the success that the song and music video have amassed, the singer is definitely becoming a force to be reckoned with. In a recent interview, the singer opened up about her music, what influences her most, and how she is repurposing and redefining Jazz in her own way.

Laufey talks about her music and inspiration, how ‘Mad Woman’ came to be

Laufey, while talking to BBC recently, opened up on working on her music and how her latest song, ‘Mad Woman,’ came to be. The music video has been going viral due to the jazzy and slow music, along with the star cast including ‘Heated Rivalry’ star Hudson Williams, ‘Forbidden Fruits’ actress Lola Tung, Olympic medalist Alyssa Liu, and KATSEYE singer Megan Skiendiel.While talking about the making of the music video, she touched up on one of the most viral scenes, where she smacks Hudson right in the face with a fish. Talking about the same, she laughed and said, “Oh my God, it was amazing. It was cathartic. I had a lot of unreleased energy that I released on poor Hudson.”Further, when discussing the scene, she revealed that they had to improvise a lot during the shoot and do things on the whim again and again. Talking about the same, she added more details and shared that I’m not a very angry person, but it felt good to scream and shout I dug into my deepest memories of when I’ve been the most wronged by men, and I accessed a part of myself I didn’t know I had in me. It felt very primal.”On the work front, Laufey has been active in the music scene since 2022 and has taken over the music industry with her slow and mellow pop songs. From the age of 4, she started learning piano and cello, and has been heavily influenced by music most of her life. She even completed her studies from Boston’s Berklee College of Music,
