NEW DELHI: A year after the brutal Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir shook the nation, the Army on Tuesday reaffirmed its resolve, invoking Operation Sindoor and issuing a stern warning against cross-border terrorism.“When boundaries of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive. Justice is Served. India Stands United,” the Army’s ADG PI said in a post on X, sharing a graphic that read, “Some boundaries should never be crossed. India does not forget.”The April 22, 2025 attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam had claimed 26 innocent lives. The victims, all men, were segregated by terrorists based on religion before being killed in front of their families and loved ones.The barbaric act of terrorism drew a swift and decisive response. Under Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, Indian armed forces struck terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, destroying nine major launchpads linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen. Over 100 terrorists were eliminated.Pakistan’s retaliation through drone attacks and shelling triggered a four-day conflict, but India hit back hard, targeting radar installations in Lahore and near Gurjanwala. A ceasefire was reached on May 10 after Pakistan’s DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart.In a sustained crackdown, Operation Mahadev saw security forces track down and eliminate three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam killings.Reinforcing India’s zero-tolerance stance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asserted, “if there is a terrorist attack on India, a fitting reply will be given,” adding India “will not differentiate between the government sponsoring terrorism and the masterminds of terrorism.” Defense minister Rajnath Singh has maintained that “Operation Sindoor is still going on.” Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi hailed Operation Sindoor as a shining example of India’s military strength, calling it the finest display of “tri-service synergy under clear-cut political directive,” with the armed forces given full freedom to act decisively.Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh had said on the eve of the 93rd Air Force Day that Operation Sindoor was a defining moment that showcased the Indian Air Force’s precision, strength and unity of purpose in responding to Pakistan’s “Napak” (cowardly) act.Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi underlined the Navy’s strategic edge, noting that the deployment of a carrier battle group in the northern Arabian Sea effectively constrained Pakistan’s naval movements, keeping its forces close to their shores.In his Independence Day 2025 address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Mission Sudarshan Chakra, aimed at neutralizing enemy infiltration and further strengthening India’s offensive capabilities, reinforcing the nation’s firm resolve against terrorism.
