An intercultural music project is set to take shape in Duisburg this May, bringing together Indian classical traditions and Western symphonic form. Sitarist and composer Indrajit Roy-Chowdhury is collaborating with violinist Kala Ramnath for a production that reimagines India’s six-season cycle through an orchestral framework.The performance will feature Ramnath as the lead soloist with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Gordon Hamilton. At the heart of the program lies a creative dialogue that connects India’s ritual cyclea with movements from Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasonsexploring shared themes of nature and emotion. Blending Indian melodic traditions with Western harmonic structures, the project aims to go beyond simple fusion, presenting a nuanced musical conversation.
