New Delhi: With an aim to equip students with practical tools for mental well-being, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has organized a lecture centered on mindfulness, self-awareness and social responsibility.The session brought together theory and lived experience, encouraging students to reflect on their emotional health in the context of everyday life.Delivered by mental health expert Dr Daman Ahuja under the guidance of Dean professor Dhananjay Joshi, the lecture moved beyond conventional classroom learning.Drawing from his work with organizations such as National Health Mission, National AIDS Control Organization and UNICEF, Dr Ahuja connected real-world challenges with the importance of emotional balance and conscious living.The session was designed to be interactive, featuring short reflective exercises and discussions that allowed students to relate the concepts directly to their own experiences. A key idea introduced was ‘development with divinity’, which framed well-being as not just an individual pursuit but a shared, value-driven responsibility.The university has also set up ‘Sankalp’, an anti-drug and mental wellness club aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and awareness. Regular events engage students through creative activities like art walls, gratitude exercises and interactive sessions.It also conducts expert-led webinars, panel discussions and orientation programs focused on stress management and emotional resilience.In addition, GGSIPU offers specialized academic programs in mental health fields and promotes peer-led support systems. Cultural events, sports and workshops further encourage social connection, helping build a more inclusive, supportive and stigma-free campus environment.
