Jewelery worth Rs 20 lakh looted from shop in Patna daylight heist
In a brazen act that unfolded in broad daylight, five masked thieves on two motorcycles orchestrated a jewelery heist in Patna during the festive occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. They made off with precious gold and silver, estimated at Rs 15-20 lakh, after violently assaulting the shopkeeper.

Patna: In a daylight heist, five bike-borne criminals targeted a jewelery shop under the Ramakrishna Nagar police station area in Patna on Sunday (Akshaya Tritiya), and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Police have launched an investigation and are conducting raids at possible hideouts to nab the miscreants.According to the police, the incident took place around 1.45pm at Dhanji Colony. The miscreants, all wearing helmets and masks, reached the shop on two motorcycles. Two of them stayed outside while three entered the outlet. They allegedly assaulted the shopkeeper with a pistol butt, causing injuries, and looted jewelery within two to three minutes before fleeing on their bikes.On receiving information, a team from Ramakrishna Nagar police station and Sadar sub-divisional police officer Ranjan Kumar reached the spot, recorded the statement of the injured shopkeeper and examined CCTV footage from nearby areas. Superintendent of police (East) Parichay Kumar also visited the crime scene along with senior officers and conducted a detailed inspection. The team examined the layout of the shop and surrounding lanes to trace the escape route used by the criminals.The SP said a special investigation team has been formed to crack the case at the earliest. “Police are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the shop and nearby installations, while technical surveillance, including analysis of possible vehicle number plates and movement patterns, is underway. Raids are also being conducted at suspected hideouts and checkpoints have been set up on major roads leading out of the city,” the SP said.The SP said five criminals carried out the robbery using two motorcycles and fled with around 100g of gold jewelery and 3 to 4kg of silver items. The shopkeeper raised an alarm immediately and informed the police, claiming jewelery worth Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh was looted. “The case is under investigation and further details will be shared within 24 hours,” he added.
