Jimmy Butler is having a blast. On Thursday night, the Golden State Warriors forward turned up in New York alongside music stars J Balvin and Shaboozey. The gathering, held at the upscale Crane Club, quickly became one of the louder celebrity scenes of the week, stretching deep into the early morning as Balvin celebrated both his birthday and the release of his new album, Omerta.For Butler, the appearance also served as another small but noticeable sign of progress during his recovery from a torn ACL suffered in January. While basketball remains on pause for the six-time All-Star, fans watching clips from the party noticed something encouraging. Butler moved comfortably through the venue without visible assistance, laughing, dancing, and fully leaning into the chaotic karaoke atmosphere around him.

Inside the club, the night reportedly carried on until nearly 4 am, and nobody involved seemed interested in slowing things down. Videos circulating online showed Jimmy Butler, Balvin, and Shaboozey taking over the karaoke setup with a mix of confidence and pure chaos, per TMZ.Butler, wearing a durag and no shirt, passionately sang along to Hips Don’t Lie as if he were fronting the show himself. Shaboozey kept the energy high with a liquor bottle in one hand and a microphone in the other, while Balvin bounced around the room celebrating the launch of Omerta in an unbuttoned shirt.The guest list added another layer to the scene. Ryan Castro, model Josephine Skriver, TV host Keltie Knight, and Balvin’s longtime partner Valentina Ferrer were all part of the celebration.The New York outing came only days after Butler appeared at the Met Gala wearing a bold black Alo outfit that mixed formalwear with athleisure. Butler later admitted fashion was never something he imagined himself embracing publicly.

While Butler’s offseason schedule has included fashion events and celebrity parties, his basketball recovery remains the bigger story for Golden State heading into next season.The 36-year-old suffered a torn ACL on January 19 and was ruled out for the remainder of the 2025–26 season shortly after. Butler later underwent successful surgery in February. Before the injury, he had been productive during his first season with Golden State, averaging 20 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists across 38 games.Recovery timelines for ACL injuries usually range between nine and 12 months, meaning Butler could miss the beginning of next season as well. ESPN’s Anthony Slater recently reported there are no further updates expected for now.Still, seeing Butler active and moving freely in public offered Warriors fans something positive during a long rehabilitation process that is far from over.
