Kerala woman stabbed to death by son, surrenders to police

KANNUR: A 30-year-old man for allegedly killing his mother at their house near Kerala’s Peravoor and surrendered to the police, officials said on Saturday.The victim identified as Geethamma (53), wife of Thankachan was a resident of Kanichar. Her husband was not at home when the incident took place on Friday night.According to the FIR, Christy attacked his mother with a knife in the bedroom between 8 pm and 9 pm, injuring her neck badly and leading to her death. The accused identified as her son Christy, walked into the Kelakom police station and confessed to the crime.According to police, he allegedly carried out the attack after believing that people in the locality were speaking negatively about her.Christy had earlier been studying at a college in Bengaluru but returned home before completing his course.Geethamma was running a beauty parlor and was also associated with the BJP Mahila Morcha.After the incident, Christy reportedly called a friend and rode a motorcycle to the police station, where he informed officers about what had happened. Police then reached the house and rushed Geethamma to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.Relatives alleged that Christy was involved in drug abuse. Kelakom police have registered a case of murder.
