‘The White Lotus’ will be opening its doors to actress Laura Dern, after Helena Bonham Carter’s sudden exit last week.As per the latest reports, while the actress has taken Bonham Carter’s place in the upcoming series, she will not be taking over the exact role. Variety has confirmed that Dern is playing a new character developed by series creator Mike White.The nine-time Emmy Award nominee, who won the award for outstanding supporting actress in a limited series in 2017 for ‘Big Little Lies’, will take on her next big role in a hit murder series.Reason for Helena Bonham Carter’s exitThe shuffle in cast came days after filming began in the French Riviera. “With filming just underway on Season 4 of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline.The White Lotus castDern now joins the ensemble cast that includes Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani and Nadia Tereszkiewicz. In addition to Cannes, the season will film in St. Tropez, Monaco and Paris, though the story will remain set in the Côte d’Azur.
