'Major milestone': Noida international airport to begin flight operations from June 15The announcement follows the inauguration of the airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the approval of the Aerodrome Security Program by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, confirming that all required security systems and procedures are in place ahead of operations.IndiGo will operate the first flight from the airport, initiating scheduled passenger services, with Akasa Air and Air India Express expected to follow shortly. Noida International Airport

In a press release, the airport claimed that the infrastructure would cater to rising air travel demand.It described the airport’s design as modern terminal infrastructure with multimodal connectivity.The launch is expected to boost regional connectivity and create opportunities in tourism, trade and investment across the northern region.Noida International Airport, with IATA code DXN, is a greenfield project developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, in partnership with the Uttar Pradesh and Union governments. The concession period for the project began on October 1, 2021 and spans 40 years.The airport currently has one runway and one passenger terminal with an annual capacity of 12 million passengers.
