Man sent to jail for pronouncing 'triple talaq', assaulting wife

Lucknow: A case of alleged instant triple talaq, assault and arson has surfaced in the Saadatganj area of ​​the city, with police registering an FIR against the accused husband.According to the complaint filed by the victim, Saba, a resident of Wazirbagh Akhada, her husband Shadab arrived at her parental home around 4 pm on Tuesday and allegedly assaulted her and her family members. When the family objected, he reportedly insisted on taking Saba back with him. Her brother asked him to return with elders for a proper reconciliation, which allegedly enraged him.The complainant alleged that the accused attempted to set her on fire, but family members intervened and prevented any harm. He was then forced out of the house, after which he allegedly pronounced “triple talaq” while standing outside and left the scene.Police said that the accused later went to the house where the couple had been living and allegedly set fire to household items, including belongings given by the woman’s family, before fleeing with valuables.The victim further alleged that the accused was also involved in a dispute over a vehicle purchased in the name of a family member, which he wanted to sell but was opposed by her family.Station house officer Santosh Arya said the accused has been arrested and sent to jail.
