Man welds nephew's house door shut on not being invited to wedding

Kanpur: Insulted on not being invited to his nephew’s wedding procession, a man in Jalaun welded shut and locked the main door of his the groom’s house forcing him, his bride and family to wait outside the house for about 3 to 4 hours in the heat, police said.The incident occurred in the Jalaun Kotwali police station area. Nizamuddin lives with his wife, a son and two daughters in Naro Bhaskar neighborhood of the area. His son, Mohammad Majid (28), who runs a tea shop, did not invite his uncle Mohammad Azhar, Nizamuddin’s younger brother, to his wedding due to an ongoing property dispute.On April 29, Majid and the entire family went to Jhansi along with the wedding procession, leaving the house locked. Majid said, “We didn’t invite my uncle to my wedding. I left along with the wedding procession on April 29. That night, my uncle Mohammad Azhar reached my house and welded the doors of my house shut with the help of his sons Anas, Kallu, Asad, and Faiz.”“A few days earlier, my uncle was building a gallery in the house, obstructing the way to my home, which led to a dispute. Due to the same he wasn’t invited to the wedding. My uncle had threatened to disrupt the wedding and create chaos,” he added.When the wedding procession returned on April 30, the groom found the door welded shut and with a new lock on the doors. On asking the neighbours, the family found that Azhar and his children had done it.The bride had to sit in the car for about three to four hours in the heat while chaos continued outside the house..On being informed, the police reached the spot. A fabricator was called in the presence of the police, and the welding was cut using a cutter machine. The lock was also broken, allowing the groom, bride and the family to enter the house.Majid demanded strict action against his uncle.Jalaun Kotwali in-charge Harishankar said, “The police team immediately got the welding removed, allowing the groom and his family to enter the house. Further action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint.” CO Shailendra Bajpai said that an investigation is underway.The incident has become a topic of discussion across the entire area.
