The ruling DMK has nominated Saba Rajendran from Neyveli for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2026, setting up a three-cornered contest against AIADMK’s Sorathur S Rajendran and TVK’s K Anand.Neyveli Assembly constituency, also in Cuddalore district, is synonymous with the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC).The labor unions and industrial workforce play a major role in its political outcomes.In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s Saba Rajendran won the seat with 75,177 votes, defeating PMK’s K. Jagan, who secured 74,200 votes. The margin of victory was a tight 977 votes.In the 2016 Assembly elections, DMK’s Saba Rajendran won the seat with 54,299 votes, defeating AIADMK’s R. Rajsekar, who secured 36,508 votes. The margin of victory was 17,791 votes.In the 2011 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s MPS Sivasubramaniyan won the seat with 69,549 votes, defeating PMK’s T. Velmurugan, who received 61,431 votes. The margin of victory stood at 8,118 votes.
