SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated pan-India epic ‘Varanasi’ is making headlines again as behind-the-scenes photos of Priyanka Chopra and Mahesh Babu wrapping a dance sequence have surfaced online, sending fans into a frenzy.

The two separate viral pictures feature Priyanka Chopra and Mahesh Babu posing alongside celebrity choreographer Bosco Martis, signaling the completion of what is expected to be a showstopper song. One photo shows Mahesh and Bosco together inside the actor’s vanity van, while another captures Priyanka with the choreographer on set.Interestingly, the dance sequence has a fun backstory. Priyanka had made it her only condition before signing the film, a full-fledged dance number. According to the Screen Rant Plus report, she asked Rajamouli, “Will you make me dance?” during their very first call and later joked that she “should not have asked” because the choreography turned out far more demanding than expected. Mahesh Babu, who plays the lead role of Rudhra, quipped, “Because of you, I have to do it too,” while praising the number as a standout moment in the film.

The official title was unveiled at the Globetrotter event in Hyderabad on November 15, 2025, marking Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra’s first-ever on-screen collaboration. The story follows Rudhra as the city of Varanasi faces the threat of an asteroid.Rajamouli has confirmed the film draws from the Ramayana. Speaking to Polygon, he said, “All my films are inspired by the epics of (Lord) Rama,” adding that this time he has the opportunity to directly adapt an episode and present it in a new way.The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist. It is mounted on a large scale and is expected to be one of the most expensive Indian films, with a reported budget between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 1,300 crore. ‘Varanasi’ is slated for release on April 7, 2027.
