Exclusive: Rasha Thadani on working with Vir Hirani in Lagan Laagi Re

After making an entry into movies with Azaad last year, Rasha Thadani has been on a spree at experimenting with her roles. Her line-up already spans multiple genres including projects like Laikey Laikaa and the South film Srinivasa Mangapuram. Now, with a film alongside Vir Hirani on the horizon, she finds herself at an exciting turning point. As she arrived for the launch of Superdry Sport in Mumbai this week. She slipped into her fitness gear and showcased her moves and even gave credit to dancing for her fitness! Looking back at how life has changed since her debut, Rasha shares, “I feel grateful. I wake up every day and do something that I love to do. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me,” hinting at the many directions her career could take.Among those possibilities, her upcoming collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani’s son Vir Hirani, where she is paired opposite him in his debut film Lagan Laagi Re, has already sparked curiosity. While the project hasn’t gone on floors yet, Rasha’s early interactions have left an impression. “We haven’t started shooting yet, but I hope it’s as exciting as we expect it to be,” she says. Speaking about their initial meetings, she notes, “We’ve done a few readings—he is very sweet and extremely talented.”Even as she navigates big-banner collaborations, Rasha is clear about one thing—she doesn’t want to be boxed into a single genre. “I’m trying to do everything. I’m really looking to do horror,” she adds, not bothered about market pressures as box office has never been good to horror films. “I’m honestly not in it for external reasons. I’m in it because I love what I do. Whenever I sign a new film, I try to do something that challenges me and something that’s different. All my films so far, there are about four, are all different from each other. From the tonal uniqueness of Laikey Laikaa to the action-romance space of Srinivasa Mangapuram everything has a different touch, a different taste… it’s a challenge for me, and I love it,” she says.
