‘Karuppu’ is one of Suriya’s most-awaited films, set for a grand theatrical release on May 14. Directed by RJ Balaji, the rural action entertainer has already created strong expectations among fans. Before its launch, the film had already been postponed several times. Consequently, this caused the film to miss both the 2025 release date and the Pongal 2026 slot. Nevertheless, the mention of a summer release date has provided some peace of mind to all the stakeholders. The film has a mass appeal and a high-power star cast, which gives it the ability to reach people from various states.
‘Naanga Naalu Peru ‘ song controversy
The makers had earlier released the song ‘Naanga Naalu Peru’, sung by Silambarasan, which quickly went viral online. However, it did not generate good buzz as the song received heavy trolling on the internet. Fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the song’s arrangement. The song’s connection to the film sparked exciting speculation about its inclusion in the movie.
RJ Balaji clarifies song removal
In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, director RJ Balaji addressed the controversy and confirmed that the song will not be part of the final film. He said, “Fans might think I took it out because of the trolls, but our original plan was not to include it in the final version.” This made it clear that the decision was made ahead of time and not because of negative comments online. Still, considering the negative response, the move appears practical and well-timed.
‘Karuppu set for big screen impact
Apart from Suriya, the film features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, along with a strong supporting cast. The film has music composed by Sai Abhyankar. Also, the film will be released in Telugu as ‘Veera Bhadrudu.’ The music is already generating so much hype, and with the team promoting it, ‘Karuppu’ is set to be the biggest summer release ever, given the expectations from the industry and the people involved.
