Purnima is the most significant day in Hindu religion. Every Purnima, people observe the Satyanarayan fast, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. To appease Lord Vishnu, Satyanarayan Puja is held on this specific day. Satyanarayan Vrat, also called Vaishakha Purnima Vrat, is scheduled for the month of Vaishakha. Full moon day is thought to be Lord Shri Hari Vishnu’s favorite day. According to Drik Panchang, Satyanarayan Vrat is being observed this month on May 1, 2026, the Purnima Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha.

Satyanarayan Vrat May 2026: Significance

Purnima is the most significant day in Hinduism and people observe fast dedicated to Lord Satyanarayan, another form of Lord Vishnu. The day holds an immense religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. The day is believed to be one of the most powerful days in Hindu religion, when the divine rays of Moon falls on earth. Vaishakha Purnima is an extremely powerful day when Lord Buddha was born so the day is also celebrated as Buddha Purnima. On this sacred day, devotees perform Satyanarayan puja and observe fast from dawn to dusk to appease Lord Vishnu. The Moon is believed to become closer to earth on this specific day so it is considered meritorious to worship Moon God.

Satyanarayan Vrat May: Puja Method

1. Devotees get up early in the morning and take a sacred bath. 2. Place an idol of Lord Satyanarayan and Shree Yantra on a wooden plank (chowki), and adorn the altar with banana leaves.3. Light a diya with desi ghee, flowers, kumkum, apply haldi tilak to the idols, sprinkle unbroken rice then fill a kalash with water, and place it.4. Satyanarayan puja can be performed anytime by the devotees.5. Devotees should prepare panjeeri and panchamrit as a bhog prasad (Panjeeri is prepared by roasting wheat flour and let it cool down then add white sugar powder (use boora), and after that add finely chopped banana in it and add some basil leave which is important.6. Prepare Panchamrit (take raw milk and add curd, honey, sugar, and ghee in that), add tulsi patra, and offer it to Lord Satyanarayan.7. Pooja is seen to be completed without offering tulsi patra, which is very important for pleasing Lord Vishnu.8. Reciting Satyanarayan katha is extremely important part while performing puja.9. Devotees must chant these aarti to conclude satyanarayan puja – “Jai Laxmi Ramna” and “Jai Jagdish Hare”. 10. To honor the deity, devotees offer water (Arghya) to the Moon God. Afterward, they can break their fast by eating satvik.
