Sector 55 residents demand relocation of the weekly market, meet authority officials

NOIDA: Residents of Sector 55 have demanded that the Sunday weekly market, currently held between sectors 55 and 56, be shifted to the service road in Sector 57, citing traffic congestion and inconvenience. The issue was raised with Noida Authority officials during a meeting on Friday. The meeting, organized by the resident welfare association (RWA) of the sector, was attended by RWA president Satnarayan Goyal, secretary Neeraj Sharma, and FONRWA president Yogendra Sharma.Residents said the weekly market leads to heavy traffic and sanitation issues in the area. They also sought relocation of the vendor zone near Block B to Sector 57, citing inconvenience due to its proximity to residential areas. In addition, residents flagged a severe shortage of streetlights in several parts of the sector, leading to poor visibility and safety concerns. “The demand for the installation of new light poles has been raised several times, as over 20% of the sector is inadequately lit at night. But it has not been addressed so far,” said Goyal.Other demands included the renovation of the local market, regular cleaning of drains, redevelopment of community parks and the maintenance of green belts.Authority officials assured residents that the issues raised would be addressed in coordination with all stakeholders.
