NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday chose Suvendu Adhikari to be the next chief minister of West Bengal after the saffron party’s resounding victory in the state, securing 207 seats.Adhikri met West Bengal governor RN Ravi and staked claim to form the first BJP-led government in the state.“Bhoi is out and, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has said, bharosa is in,” Adhikari said after he was chosen for the top post.“The people of Bengal have given us a historic mandate. We will fulfill all the promises made in the BJP’s poll manifesto in Bengal,” he added.Suvendu Adhikari is widely seen as one of the key forces behind the BJP’s dramatic rise in West Bengal.
