KRISHNAGIRI: On Monday early morning, a Krishnagiri resident named K Mahendran, 28, described as a devoted supporter of TVK party leader Vijay, attempted suicide by slitting his throat after believing rumors that Vijay would lose the election.According to police, he became severely distressed and cut his own neck. “People nearby rescued him and took him to Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital, where he is receiving intensive treatment,” said a police official from the Krishnagiri town police.The incident occurred before the official election results were announced. It caused shock locally and drew attention in political circles. Political leaders are keeping on urging supporters not to act on rumors or make extreme decisions.
