NASHIK: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Friday clarified that a person who has been “repeatedly” referred to as an HR manager in connection with the Nashik unit controversy is neither an HR manager nor involved in recruitment. “She served as a process associate and held no leadership responsibilities,” the company said. The statement comes amid ongoing allegations of sexual misconduct and religious conversion at the IT giant’s Nashik facility. TCS also rejected claims that the unit had been shut down, calling such reports “entirely untrue.” “TCS holds itself to the highest standards of employee welfare and institutional conduct. We remain fully committed to the safety, dignity, and well-being of every employee. As we have stated before, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of coercion or misconduct,” the company said, adding that it will continue to support employees and ensure a safe workplace across locations. It further said it would extend full cooperation to law enforcement agencies to ensure the matter is investigated “thoroughly, transparently, and brought to a rightful conclusion.” Earlier this week, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran described the allegations emerging from the Nashik branch as “gravely concerning and distressing.” He said the matter was being treated with “the utmost seriousness,” adding that action had already been initiated against accused employees and that the company was fully cooperating with investigations. In its latest statement, TCS also said it had not received any complaints through its internal mechanisms. According to the company, “A preliminary review of the systems and records pertaining to the Nashik unit indicates that we have not received any complaints of the nature that are being alleged on either our ethics or POSH (prevention of sexual harassment) channels,” it said. The company further announced the formation of an oversight panel and said it has engaged external agencies to support its internal inquiry. Consultancy firm Deloitte and law firm Trilegal have been engaged in as independent counsel for the probe.
