Prayagraj: : In a relief for students, who secured low marks in the UP Board Classes X and XII examinations 2026, the board has proposed the introduction of an improvement examination, offering candidates another chance to enhance their scores. The proposal has been sent to state government and is likely to be approved soon.In addition, students will also have the option of scrutiny (re-evaluation) and compartment examinations to improve their results. While compartment exams are meant for candidates who have failed in one or two subjects to avoid losing an academic year, the proposed improvement examination will be open to students who have passed but wish to secure higher marks.Board secretary Bhagwati Singh said: “No student’s future will be adversely affected.”He said while the scrutiny process commenced on Friday the compartment examinations are proposed in July.“These measures are expected to provide both academic relief and mental reassurance to students, enabling them to rebuild confidence and strengthen their future prospects,” he said.According to official figures, a total of 53, 37,778 candidates were registered for the 2026 board examinations. In Class X, 26,01,381 students appeared, of whom 23,52,181 passed and 2,49,200 failed.
