Riddhima Kapoor Sahni became emotional as she remembered her father, legendary actor Rishi Kapoor, on his sixth death anniversary on April 30. Riddhima shared a heartfelt post on social media. She expressed love, longing, and deep admiration for her late father.
A heartfelt note for her father Rishi Kapoor
Riddhima’s message captured her emotions as she wrote, “Until we meet again. I’ll keep celebrating you loving you and missing you-always.” Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67. He had been battling leukemia for a long time also the veteran actor underwent treatment for cancer and fought the illness for several months. His passing marked the end of an era in Hindi cinema.

Earlier in 2025 Riddhima spoke about her relationship with her brother Ranbir Kapoor during a conversation with Hindustan Times. She described their bond as grounded and genuine despite their upbringing in a film family.She said, “Ranbir and I have always had a very normal sibling relationship despite growing up in a famous family. At home, we were just like any other brother and sister teasing, fighting, covering up for each other sometimes- off course, there were times we’d keep little secrets from our parents but nothing major. We’ve always been fiercely protective of each other, and that’s never changed.”Reflecting on their father’s loss, she added, “Losing Papa brought us even closer. Our bond has always been strong, but now it’s deeper.” She also called Ranbir her “biggest cheerleader.”
Final goodbye during difficult times
Rishi Kapoor’s death came during the first wave of COVID-19 in India. Strict restrictions were in place across the country. Because of this, only close family members present in Mumbai could attend his last rites. At the funeral, his wife Neetu Kapoor and son Ranbir Kapoor were present to bid him farewell.
