Agra: : In a case of alleged medical negligence, an FIR was filed against a doctor of a private hospital in Agra after a 30-year-old woman died following delivery. Her family claimed that she died due to wrong blood transfusion.Providing details, Agra’s chief medical officer, Arun Srivastava, said, “A probe was conducted, and negligence on the part of the doctor was found. A detailed report was thereafter shared with local police.”Lalita Devi, 30, of Bhahai Malpura area, was admitted to the hospital for delivery on Feb 19. Following childbirth, she was administered blood transfusion, and her condition deteriorated soon after. Her family blamed her health condition on Dr Yogesh Kumar and filed a complaint.Sadar SHO, Vijay Vikram Singh, said, “A case under BNS section 106 (causing death by rash or negligent acts not amounting to culpable homicide) has been registered.” Police said further action will be taken based on medical reports and other findings.In his complaint, Lalita’s husband, Sevadas, stated the attending doctor advised a caesarean section, following which she delivered a baby boy around 8:30am on Feb 20. Her condition began to deteriorate soon thereafter, and around midnight, hospital staff asked the husband to urgently arrange two units of blood. He procured the blood from a nearby blood bank, but even after transfusion of one unit, her condition did not improve.Sevadas alleged that despite visible symptoms — such as continuous nasal bleeding, chest distress and severe pain — the doctor and staff dismissed the condition as normal and failed to take adequate measures. “Instead of stabilizing her condition, Dr Yogesh arranged for her transfer to another facility, a private nursing home, where she died within two hours,” he stated.
