Ghaziabad: : Three persons, two of them of the same family and a bike taxi rider, were mowed down by a mini-bus on Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) near IPEM College on Friday.Among the deceased are Naveen Kumar (42) and his brother-in-law Deepak, who were traveling to Rudrapur from Loni in a Thar. According to ACP Kotwali Upasana Pandey, when they reached the stretch near IPEM College around 6 am, they pulled their Thar off the road and stopped Yogesh, who was heading to Lal Kuan on his Rapido bike, apparently to ask for directions.The speeding vehicle struck all three as they stood behind the parked SUV. “The impact was so severe that all three were badly crushed between the bus and the Thar,” Pandey said.A Vijay Nagar police team, alerted through Dial 112, rushed the men to a nearby hospital. But all three were declared dead on arrival. The mini-bus driver, identified as Virendra, a Delhi resident, was arrested at the scene. The vehicle was seized.An FIR was registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS after a complaint was submitted by Naveen’s family.The mini-bus, carrying 26 passengers, all women, was traveling from Delhi to Haridwar. Two passengers sustained minor injuries and were discharged after treatment, police said.Naveen, who ran a travel agency in Loni’s Jawahar Nagar, is survived by his wife and two young daughters. Deepak, who also worked at the agency, had come to Loni the previous day to visit his sister. The two had left Loni around midnight for Rudrapur when they were struck by the mini-bus.Yogesh, who had taken a loan to buy the bike just two-and-a-half months ago, is survived by his wife and two children, aged four and one-and-a-half years. According to police, he worked at a private company in Delhi and drove a bike taxi part-time. At the time of the incident, he was headed to Lal Kuan to meet a friend.
