A man wearing a balaclava has been arrested after allegedly threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near his home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on Wednesday evening. According to The Telegraph, the former Duke of York was out walking his dogs when he was confronted by the balaclava-clad man who was sitting in a car in Wolferton, close to his Marsh Farm property, on Wednesday evening (May 6). The man reportedly spotted Mountbatten-Windsor from around 50 yards away, got out of the car, and approached him while shouting.Norfolk police confirmed one arrestedsaying: “Officers were called to Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 May 2026) following a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner in the village. Officers attended, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon.” The suspect was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Center for questioning and remains in custody.“Alex Jenkinson, aged 39 and of Stowmarket, Suffolk has since been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior to harass someone or cause alarm or distress and failing to provide a specimen of blood in custody. He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday 8 May 2026),” Norfolk Police has said. According to report, Andrew accompanied by his private security detail, got in his car and drove away at speed, with the man allegedly running after him.The Wednesday evening incident has reignited questions about Mountbatten-Windsor’s security arrangements. Since 2019, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has not been privy to taxpayer-funded security and has instead relied upon private protection. He was told to step down from his royal duties in 2019.The location is a lane adjacent to the Sandringham Royal Parkland. Unlike his previous residence at Royal Lodge, which sits within secure grounds, Marsh Farm sits closer to public thoroughfares.
