Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP, received much traction after his superhit composition for the Allu Arjun starrer ‘Pushpa’. The composer’s family residence situated in Andhra Pradesh has an emotional connection too.
DSP’s hometown connection
The composer hails from Vedurupaka village in East Godavari district where his early life shaped his musical journey. Despite working extensively in cities like Hyderabad and Chennai he maintains strong ties to his birthplace.
‘Suryodayam’ house and its significance
As reported by Suman TV, the house in Vedurupaka is a three-storey structure known as “Suryodayam.” The name carries emotional value, as it honors his parents and their influence on his life.The home has often been described as a space filled with artistic elements and creative energy.As reported by English Tupaki website, DSP revealed to the media in the year 2016, “My father loves his native place Vedurupaka in East Godavari very much. Its because of that he built a huge house in Vedurupaka and named it after his parents Suryanarayana-Udaya Bhaskar as ‘Suryodayam’.”The residence is not just a living space but also a reflection of DSP’s artistic mindset.
Ilaiyaraaja visit and emotional moment
A memorable highlight in DSP’s journey was the visit of Ilaiyaraaja to his studio. The composer has a life-sized portrait of the maestro displayed prominently in his workspace.Sharing his emotions, DSP wrote, “As a little kid, even before I knew what MUSIC was all about, MAESTRO ISAIGNANI ILAYARAJA SIR’s MUSIC cast a MAGICAL SPELL on me (sic).”He further expressed his long-held dream, stating, “My biggest and lifetime dream was that Ilaiyaraaja Sir should visit my studio one day, and I should take a photo with him standing next to the picture of his.”He added, “And as the universe always conspires to make our most genuine desires and love come true. Finally, this dream of mine came true. It was one of the most emotional moments of my life. Thank You my dearest god of music Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja Sir. For bringing your divine presence to my studio and blessing me and my team.”
Recent work and ongoing projects
On the professional front, DSP continues to remain active with major film projects. He has composed music for Ustaad Bhagat Singh starring Pawan Kalyan.
