Madhubani leads, Lakhisarai trails in self-enumeration
Bihar’s census self-enumeration concluded with 46.82 lakh participants completing the process. Madhubani led with over 6 lakh completions. The second phase, a door-to-door survey, began May 2. Those who self-enumerated must provide their SS-ID for verification. Enumerators will collect data on 33 points.

Patna: The self-enumeration phase of the Census concluded in the state with 48.50 lakh participants recorded between April 17 and May 1. Official data indicates that 46.82 lakh completed their self-enumeration.The second phase, involving door-to-door surveys by enumerators, commenced on May 2 and is scheduled to end on May 31.The top-performing districts for the self-enumeration were led by Madhubani with 6.05 lakh completions, followed by Vaishali (5.86 lakh) and Darbhanga (4.95 lakh). High-participation districts included Gopalganj (3.06 lakh), Patna (2.38 lakh), Bhojpur (2.09 lakh), Aurangabad (1.64 lakh), and Khagaria (1.63 lakh).Moderate participation was noted in West Champaran (1.34 lakh), Katihar (1.20 lakh), Purnia (1.19 lakh), Jamui (1.13 lakh), Muzaffarpur (1.09 lakh), Siwan (1.07 lakh), Samastipur (1.03 lakh), and Rohtas (99,000). Districts showing satisfactory progress included Gaya (89,000), Madhepura (82,000), Saran (74,000), Nalanda (71,000), Buxar and Nawada (70,000), Supaul (65,000), Sitamarhi (62,000), Bhagalpur (50,000), Saharsa (48,000), and Sheikhpura (48,000).Lower participation was recorded in Sheohar (43,000), Kishanganj (42,000), Jehanabad (39,000), Banka and Begusarai (29,000), Kaimur (26,000), Arwal (18,000), Munger (18,000), and Lakhisarai (14,000).During the current door-to-door phase, enumerators will query households on 33 specific points. Individuals who have already self-enumerated are required to provide their SS-ID to officials to facilitate verification and streamline the data collection process.
