When he appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show with daughter Sonam Kapoor and Rajkummar RaoAnil shared that fans often send him photos of auto rickshaws with his posters and the word ‘Jhakaas’ written on them. Rajkummar then shared a funny personal story about spotting Anil’s face on an auto rickshaw.
Rajkummar Rao recalls fighting over Anil Kapoor’s picture in auto rickshaws
Rajkummar said, “When we were younger. There used to be pictures of Anil Kapoor, Govinda, and others below the seats of auto rickshaws. So we used to fight over who would sit on the seat with Anil Kapoor’s picture, as whoever would sit there would be considered Anil Kapoor.”

Anil, Sonam and Rajkummar had come together on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ to promote their film ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’. The 2019 coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama was directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Gazal Dhaliwal. The film draws its inspiration from PG Wodehouse’s 1919 novel ‘A Damsel in Distress’.

Besides the lead trio of Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ features a strong supporting cast including Juhi Chawla, Regina Cassandra, Abhishek Duhan, Madhumalti Kapoor, Seema Pahwa, Brijendra Kala, Alka Kaushal and Kanwaljit Singh. The film also features a special appearance by Akshay Oberoi.
‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’: Anil and Sonam Kapoor’s first on-screen collaboration
The film follows the story of Sweety Chaudhary, a closeted lesbian navigating the challenges of coming out to her conservative and traditional Punjabi family. Its title is borrowed from the beloved song of the same name from the 1994 film ‘1942: A Love Story’, which also featured Anil Kapoor. The film also holds a special place for another reason — it marked the first time Anil and Sonam Kapoor shared the screen together as a real-life father and daughter, playing the same relationship on screen as well.
