UP pass rate above 98% in ICSE & ISC exams, better than last year

Noida/Ghaziabad: An atmosphere of joy and triumph prevailed across school campuses in Noida and Ghaziabad after the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) declared the 2026 ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) board examinations results on Thursday. According to board data, the pass percentage in both examinations crossed 98% in the state.Around 500 students appeared in the ICSE examinations for Class 10, and 350 in the ISC examination for Class 12 from the three schools affiliated with the board in Noida. In Ghaziabad, over 1,200 students wrote the Class 12 exams and around 3,000 students appeared for the Class 10 exams from 16 schools.Among the highest scorers in the region was Aishwarya Arora of The Shriram Millennium School in Noida, who secured 98.8% in Class 12 to become one of the top performers in the city.speaking to TOI About her future plans, she said she is now preparing for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). “I am extremely happy with my Class 12 score and my next goal is to get into a good college in Delhi University to pursue graduation in political science,” said Arora, a resident of Delhi.Aryav Chugh topped Class 10 with 98.4% at the same school.In Ghaziabad, Charul Tayal of St Mary’s Convent School scored 99.4% in her Class 10 exam, one of the highest marks reported in the area this year.“I had worked hard but was not expecting to become the school topper. However, I was expecting to score higher than 98% and I am happy that I could do it. I will take up science in Class 11 as I want to become an AI expert,” Tayal told. TOI.In Greater Noida, St Joseph’s School recorded strong results. Laxmi Yadav came in at the first position with a score of 98.25% in the Class 12 examination, while Lakshay Bhati and Unnati Yadav jointly topped Class 10 with 96.6%.Jesus and Mary Convent School in Greater Noida also saw notable performances with Arya Rudrawal topping Class 10 at 97.4%, and Abhinandan securing the top position in Class 12 with 96.2%.Also with a score of 98.2%, Nandini Yadav of St Paul’s Academy in Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad, became one of the top performers in the area in the Class 12 examinations.Closely following her was Shuddhi Virmani from Holy Child School in Ghaziabad’s Nehru Nagar with a score of 98% in the Class 12 exams. Among the Class 10 students at the same school, Shuchi Agrawal emerged at the top, with 98.6%.School authorities credited the strong outcomes to focused preparation, teacher guidance and parental support. “We celebrated the results with our students by distributing sweets and wished them well for their future,” said Father Jipson Palatty, principal of St Joseph’s School.According to state statistics released by CISCE, the ICSE pass percentage saw a slight decline — from 99.4% in 2025 to 98.6% in 2026. In contrast, the ISC results showed an improvement, with the pass percentage rising from 98.19% last year to 98.96% this year, marking an increase of 0.77%.A total of 49,641 students appeared for the ICSE examination across 476 schools in Uttar Pradesh. Boys accounted for 27,625 candidates while 22,016 girls appeared for the exam. Of the total number of candidates, 48,965 students cleared the exam.For the ISC examination, 33,386 students from 389 schools took the test. Among them, 18,193 were boys and 15,193 were girls. Of the total students, 33,040 students cleared the exam.Girls outperformed boys in both examinations. In ICSE, girls registered a pass percentage of 98.9%, compared to 98.3% among boys. Similarly, in ISC, girls achieved a pass percentage of 99.4%, while the boys’ data stood at 98.5%.
