A dedicated Beatles museum is set to open in London next year at 3 Savile Row in Mayfair, the former headquarters of the band’s own record label Apple Corps. The building is where the Beatles played their famous rooftop concert in January 1969 which was their last ever public performance. It is also where they recorded their final album Let It Be. Apple Corps has reacquired the Grade II listed Georgian townhouse and will transform it into the first official Beatles fan experience anywhere in the world. As reported by Secret London, the museum will span seven floors inside the historic Mayfair building and will be filled with music, material and memorabilia connected to one of the most celebrated bands in history. No specific opening date has been confirmed beyond a 2027 launch window. The announcement was made on Instagram with limited details and the official website is expected to carry further updates as they become available. The choice of location gives the museum a significance that no purpose-built attraction could replicate. 3 Savile Row is not simply a building associated with the Beatles. It is the place where the band’s own company was based during the final period of their existence as a group. The rooftop concert that took place there on 30 January 1969 was unannounced and lasted approximately 42 minutes before police arrived and asked for the performance to stop. It was filmed as part of what eventually became the Let It Be documentary and later the Get Back film released by Peter Jackson in 2021. The concert has been described by music historians as one of the most significant live performances of the 20th century. The Beatles formed in Liverpool in the late 1950s and became the best-selling music act in history. Their influence on popular music, fashion and culture across the 1960s and beyond remains without parallel. Despite the band having been inactive since 1970 interest in their catalog and history has remained consistently strong across successive generations of music fans. The museum joins existing Beatles attractions in Liverpool including the Beatles Story museum at the Albert Dock and the Cavern Club on Mathew Street where the band performed hundreds of times in their early years.
